Weber Kracht and Chellew Law Office
847 W. Market St.
This house, designed by Oscar Martin, sits on the northeast corner of Ninth and Market Street. It was constructed in 1925 for a local merchant and automobile dealer Herbert Muth. The house is two stories with an attic, has a large front porch, slate roof, and several ribbon windows. The exterior walls are constructed of a unique bicolored brown brick. Herbert Muth’s wife, Edna opened a millinery store in her home in 1926, continuing to operate it until moving to Fifth Street.
The property was purchased in the early 1940’s by Titus Yerger, owner of the Yerger Real Estate Agency. After 1953, Willard Wismer joined the business which became Yerger and Wismer Real Estate.
The building was returned to a residence in the mid 1960’s when William J and Anne Stader purchased the property. The Stader’s sold the property in 1993 to the law firm of Weber and Kracht and Chellew. They converted it for use into a law office which it remains today.
