Saint Stephen’s United Church of Christ
110 N. Sixth Street
St. Stephens is the first church in the original part of Perkasie. The congregation was organized in 1883 and the original church building was dedicated in 1886. By 1902, the original building was too small, and the decision was made to replace it with a larger building on the same lot.
Noted church architect, Charles Bolton designed the new church. It was constructed of Rockhill Granite by local builder David Stoneback. During construction, the congregation held services at Perkasie Opera House on Walnut and Fourth Streets. The completed church was consecrated on May 1, 1904.
Also constructed at the same time as the church, was the parsonage, designed by M.B Biehn ((sic): Bean) of Lansdale. The new parsonage, also constructed of Rockhill granite, built adjoining the church, cost $3,000 to construct.
The stone wall on the east side of the church was built in 1928. An addition was made to the church in 1990.
