Plaza Theater now Perkasie Pizza & Pasta
615 West Market Street
An old Perkasie home was razed in 1922 for construction of the Plaza Theater. Perkasie Fire Company No. 1 spent $45,000 to construct the 630-seat moving picture theater which opened in September 1922. Operation of the theater served as a revenue source for the fire company.
The fire company sold the theater to Bernard Haines for $35,000 in 1935. Mr. Haines continued to operate the theater until 1950, when a fire damaged the building interior and ended the showing of movies.
In 1953, the A&P grocery store opened in the former theater. Later the building would be used for automobile storage, REMAX Real Estate and Prudential Insurance offices.
The building is now home to Perkasie Pizza and Pasta Restaurant.
