In 1920 Cyrus Heckler of Perkasie Vulcanizing purchased the Exide Battery Service Station at 4th and Walnut Streets. Perkasie Vulcanizing sold tires, batteries and performed auto maintenance including tire retreading using the vulcanizing process.
Norman Lewis of Quakertown purchased Perkasie Vulcanizing in 1930 and made numerous additions to the property over the years. By 1955 Perkasie Vulcanizing outgrew the building and moved to a new site in Sellersville.
The building was then home to Electri Centre a TV and appliance store. Also located in the building was Perkasie Beverage, a beauty salon, and Shelly’s Book Store.
Moyers Lawn and Garden opened in 1968 selling and repairing lawn and garden equipment. Harry Moyer served as sales manager and son Rick served as parts and service manager. In the 1980’s they sold 200 lawn tractors and 150 -200 rotary mowers along with many snowblowers each year
After Moyers closed in 2000, the building was home to Stardust Ceramic Studio. American Colonial Crown Molding (ACCM), a custom aluminum molding manufacturer was located in the basement.
