Benner's Market now Emerald Carpet
13 Seventh Street
When the Perkasie Improvement Block Building was constructed in 1924, Kulp’s Hardware store occupied the storefront at 13 North Seventh Street. In 1942, when Kulp's closed, Roy Benner relocated his grocery store into the building from the corner of Seventh and Market Streets. In 1946 Benner introduced self-service and a fresh meat department. Benner’s is remembered for fresh roasted peanuts, personalized service and coffee while you shopped.
In 1954, the store was transferred to Roy Benner’s daughter and son-in – law, Dot and Paul Meas. They operated the store until their retirement in 1977 and the store was sold and operated as Dickey’s Market.
At the time of the 1988 Perkasie fire, Triple Crowne America Company occupied the building. The property suffered damage and was later repaired.
Since 2002, 13 North Seventh Street has been home to Emerald Carpet. They are a retailer of all types of floor coverings, carpet, tile, hardwood, and laminates.
