​The building at 501 Constitution Ave was constructed in 1971 by Erwin C. Krout. It was used as The E. C. Krout Machine shop until 2007.
In 2015 Bruce Costa purchased and renovated the building for use as a karate studio. His business, Tsunami Karate opened in 2015. The name was changed a short time later to the current name of Granite Forest Dojo. Some former students have been involved with the design and renovations of the studio into today’s appearance.
