North Penn Auto Parts
111 South 4th Street
This brick building was constructed circa 1897 for use by the Perkasie Knitting Company. The building continued to be used for textile manufacturing first by Moyer and George and later E.K. Crouthamel.
As with many Perkasie industrial buildings, the building was used for cigar manufacturing by Portuondo, Eisenlohr and later General Cigar Companies.
In August of 1929, the Model Woodworking Company leased the building. This company specialized in the production of model ships. A fire in 1930 damaged the building and was later rebuilt by Jacob Horn.
In 1969, Elmer Harvey opened North Penn Auto Parts with his son Joe as the manager. The business was a branch of Quakertown Auto Parts Company and provided a complete line of foreign and domestic parts. The auto parts business closed circa 2004. The property is currently owned by Bucks County Estate Traders and used for inventory storage.
