Chestnut Street School
509 W. Chestnut Street
This building was the first school in the original part of Perkasie. The Chestnut Street school was originally built as a Rockhill Township school and became a Perkasie school in 1879 when Perkasie incorporated. As the Perkasie population increased, an addition was added to the building.
After the Arch Street School opened in 1892, the building was sold and was referred to as the Norwood Building. Besides apartments, various businesses have been located here including cigar making, grocery store and Perkasie Vulcanizing.
Today, the former school is used as an apartment building.
