Knoll Funeral Building / Trinity Parish House
420 W. Chestnut Street
In 1895 Frank Knoll moved from Silverdale into a twin home he constructed at the corner of Fifth and Chestnut Streets. Behind his house he also built a 3-story brick building for use of his undertaking business.
In this funeral service building, Frank Knoll had a casket showroom on the first floor, lumber storage on the 2nd floor and a shop for casket construction on the 3rd floor. All the caskets were made from wood and by hand. One year, when he wasn’t too busy with the funeral business, he built 12 row boats for Menlo Park. For a time in the 1920’s cigars and cigar boxes were made here.

In 1936 , after Frank Knolls death, Trinity Lutheran Church purchased the property for use as their Parish House. When Trinity completed their Fellowship Hall in 1960, they sold the Parish House to Dr. Richard Casanova. The first floor was converted into a chiropractic physician’s office for Dr.Casanova.

Dr. Casanova sold the building in 1989. The building was then converted into five apartment units.
